Classes & Offerings

  • Regularly scheduled classes occur during the school year (Sept-Jun). We offer a wide variety of classes for dancers of all ages & levels. Find a full list of classes below, and contact us for prices, or to register.

  • Sign-up and attend one of the various workshops we run throughout the year. With offerings in dance, language, history, and craft, there is something for everyone. Visit us on our social media pages or check out our events calendar for upcoming workshops.

  • You can find us dancing all over the lower mainland (and North America!) in community and private shows. If you are interested in booking us for an event you are organizing please contact us through the links below.

For over 20 years, our Kumu and teachers have nurtured hula and a passion for the culture in students of all levels. With an offering of regular scheduled classes, cultural & dance workshops with Kumu from all over the world, and community shows/events; for 2 years old to 70+ years old, beginners to professionals, there is a space for everyone.

Keiki (Kids 3-5)

Our Keiki class is open to all littles 3-5 years old, of all dance levels. These classes run for 50 min and will cover dance, language, oli (chants), and games in Hula, Tahitian & Maori.

Kamali’i (Kids 5-8)

Our Kamali’i class is open to all kids 5-8 years old, of all dance levels. These classes run for 1 hour and will go deeper into dance, language, oli, and cultural practices in Hula. With continued exposure to Tahitian & Maori dance.

Opio (Pre-Teens 8-12)

Our Opio class is open to all teens 8-12 years old, of all dance levels. These classes run for 1 hour and will focus on practicing more hālau protocols and intermediate dances and oli. With continued exposure to Tahitian & Maori dance.

Ho’omaka (Beginners Adult Hula)

Our Ho’omaka class welcomes any and all adult beginner dancers. No previous dance experience is necessary. This class runs weekly for 1 hour and will introduce you to Hula basics and dances during the session.

Leihulu (+55 Intermediate Hula)

Our Leihulu classes are structured specifically for ages 55+. A 6-Week Hoʻomaka Session is recommended prior to joining. This class runs weekly for 1 hour and will develop Hula basics, learn dances, oli and hālau protocols.

Progressive Adult Tahitian

Our Progressive Tahitian class is open to all adult dancers with minimal Tahitian dance experience. These classes occur twice per month and run for 1 hour. Beginner-intermediate level basics, and aparima and ori dances will be taught.

Liko (Teens 13-16)

Our Liko class is open to all teens 13-16 years old, of all dance levels. These classes run for 1 hour and will prepare our haumana (students) for advanced-level dancing. With continued learning of Hawaiian culture, practices, language, and oli.

Beginner Polynesian Dance

Our 6-week beginner Polynesian dance class welcomes any and all adult beginner dancers. No previous dance experience is necessary. 6-week sessions are offered with a weekly 1-hour class. You will be introduced to Hula basics and dances throughout the first 5 weeks and a quick Tahitian intro on the last week. 

Lehulehu (Experienced Adult)

Our Lehulehu class is open to all adult dancers with previous Hula dance experience. This class runs for 1.5 hours and will cover all dance basics, while continuously reviewing and learning dances and oli. All hālau protocols are practiced in this class.

Intro to Ori

Our Intro to Ori class welcomes all adult beginner dancers interested in fast-tempo ori dances. No previous dance experience is necessary. These classes run weekly for 1 hour and will cover high-energy warm-ups, techniques, and dances.

Advanced Adult Tahitian

Our Advanced Tahitian class is open to adult dancers with previous Tahitian dance experience. These classes are high-energy and tempo workouts. Classes run weekly for 1.5 hours and will cover advanced warm-ups, techniques, and dances.

Hi’iaka (Intermediate Adult Hula)

Our Hiʻiaka class is open to all adult dancers with previous Hula dance experience. A 6-Week Hoʻomaka Session is recommended prior to joining. This class runs weekly for 1.5 hours and will introduce all hula basics, Hawaiian language used in class, hālau protocols, and intermediate-level dances.

Parent & Tot (Kids 2-4)

Our Parent & Tot class is perfect for those parents looking to encourage movement, music, and diversity with their little ones. Parent & Tot is open to all littles 2-4 years old, accompanied by a guardian. These classes run for 50 mins and will cover dance, language, oli (chants), and games in Hula, Tahitian & Maori.

Kane (Mens)

Our Kane classes are structured specifically for men. These classes are open to all dancers 12 yrs+. No previous dance experience is required. Classes run twice per month and run for 1 hour. Beginner-intermediate level basics and dances will be taught.

Tupuna (+55 Progressive Hula)

Our Tupuna classes are structured specifically for ages 55+. Open to adult dancers with little to no Tahitian dance experience. These classes occur biweekly and run for 1 hour. Beginner-intermediate level basics and aparima dances will be taught.
